Quote from Roadie :AH, an MK4! Burn it. lol.. It hasen't broken down on you yet, or burst into flames? amazing..

I know it's crazy, but I haven't even seen a check engine light yet
I do have the VR6, by the way, at least it's not a 1.8T, LOL.

Some kid's stock 1.8T did just randomly catch on fire while parked outside a shopping mall a couple weeks ago, so you're not too far off...

Quote from pearcy_2k7 :Mum ha one of them quite fast actually i rember being i it with my dad racing an M3 lol M3 got away eventually but wasnt that much difference between them.

PS: get rid of those back seats and stick another engin there, the its a proper golf

Hanging with an M3 is a bit of a stretch, but I can hang with the Mazda RX-8 and stuff, I might be able to take a US market e36 M3 or something. It is pretty quick though, and it gets a lot better mileage than the tank I used to drive, and it has a 6 speed

Oh, and I'm gonna leave the back seats in, but if I add a turbocharger, then is it a real Golf?

You only have to double clutch on a transmission without sychros. I've tried it before, and it's hard for me to do, but I can feel the difference on downshifts, I don't feel my synchros spinning up to speed obviously, since everything is at the same speed already.

I don't double clutch much, but I do heel and toe throttle blip my downshifts. The synchros on the transmission have already spun the transmission input shaft up to speed, all your throttle blip does is make sure the flywheel is at more or less the same speed as the clutch/input shaft so you don't send a shock through your driveline and lock your wheels.

Now, I drive a FWD car, so I'm not gonna lock the rear wheels and spin if I mess up a downshift, but it's not a very pleasant feeling not rev matching.

Quote from theirishnoob :it could be a 93 with a 96 body but that would be american stupid...

That's Irish stupid... Civics are unibody, you can't just "take the body off." LOL.

I'm sick of every time something is stupid, that it's "American, or American stupid," that's just stupid.

Quote from MAGGOT :I thought the rudder was always used in combination with banking to make a turn?

..shows what I know about aviation. haha

Well, it is, but he's meaning opposite rudder, i.e. right rudder and left aileron, basically to drift the plane, lol.

I think, and really hope, that he was kidding about the suing part, otherwise that's just plain stupid.

Quote from danowat :LFS doesn't NEED real content to make it "good", it's good already, has been good long before any "real" content was added.

Would adding (more) "real" content to LFS make it "better"?, IMO no, but I DO agree that we need more content, if that content is real, then so be it, but it won't be a bad thing if any added content is fictional.

TBH, there is only thing I would like added to LFS that is "real", and that would be the Nordschleife, I have massive respect for that "track"

I agree, 100% The Nordschleife is the only real world track I'd care about seeing, simply because it's like nothing else out there. Everything else just seems like any other track to me, nothing to get that jazzed about.

A few other tracks that I would like to see, Bathurst and Pike's Peak, again, they're not really like anything else out there.

Quote from glyphon :pretty good review. the physics, while not perfect, are actually pretty good, especially when using the FF wheel. i was actually pleasantly surprised when a high hp fwd car i had torque steered when i stomped on the gas.

its not quiet as good as LFS, but i'd put it firmly in 2nd for physics simulations.

I was also quite surprised to feel torque steer. It's also a neat effect having both rumble motors and a real FF motor in the wheel, so you can rumble over curbs, but it doesn't affect your steering.

With a balanced, RWD car, it's actually really nice. The e36 M3 reminds me a lot of the XRT, with maybe just a bit more understeer. I think the physics are very good. There's no real way to compare it to LFS other than feel, but I think it scores pretty highly in that department. I haven't felt anything strange or out of the ordinary either. Everything that happens seems like what should be happening.

I'd definitely put it a close second for physics, right behind the likes of LFS, GPL, NR2003, and RBR. I'd rate it ahead of all the ISI sims, too.

I have it, along with the Xbox wireless FF wheel, and I do think it's quite realistic. The FF doesn't seem canned, but seems like it's simulating steering column torque as in LFS, I think it feels a lot better than GTR or any of the ISI sims personally, you feel a lot more connected to the road, the cars don't seem to float like they do in the ISI sims.

It's not Live for Speed, to be sure, but it ain't bad, I don't even know if it deserves the "semi-sim" title, it seems pretty real to me.

Oh, believe me, I know NR2003 looks good, I used to play it all the time, I loved the crashes too, lol. I was just saying for future reference, try to lower detail in other areas. Shadows are huge, without them the cars don't have an depth, try lowering draw distance instead or something.

I still love the video though.

It needs shadows, other than that it's pretty good. I used to love crashing in NR2003, it's very satisfying.

Wrong section, but get a Logitech DFP if you don't have an Xbox 360, it's basically designed for PC anyway.

Quote from Zewerr :I missed the first episode, so I'm not really sure what happened then. But I wish they would show more about how they're setting up the cars for each race. I also wished they had the other members of the teams more involved, instead of focusing it mainly on the drivers. I also can't stand the damn camera views. You can't tell what the hell is even going on. But still, with having people on it that I know is making up for it.

Oh, and I thought I'd share this with you guys. Here's an autocrossing vid from this weekend. At the end, you'll see me about run over Ron from Team Bridgestone.

Time time to go watch the finally on my DVR!

Is that the Typhoon you're running in that video? Looked like a lot of fun to me. I really need to get into autocross, I finally have the car for it, ditched the boat I used to drive.

I gained somewhere around 20fps by overclocking my CPU (done with the LFS benchmark) when running without AA and AF, and with AA and AF on, I gained something like 10 by overclocking my graphics card, again using the LFS benchmark. I didn't push the graphics card too hard though, since it doesn't have a fan.

To be honest though, the only thing I notice is a higher FPS number, going from 50 to 60 FPS doesn't really mean much visibly
